The Metro Women’s Leadership Summit will be held Friday, June 1, at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel and this year’s lineup features a powerfully diverse group of female speakers.
Among the prominent women leaders is attorney Alexis S. Axelrad from the prestigious New York law firm of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner. She will lead a Breakout Session on salient immigration issues confronting society today. The wealth of strong women rounding out the summit plan to tailor discussion toward “Leadership, Finance, Health and Political Activism.”
Ms. Axelrad has two decades of experience and has emerged as one of the nation’s leading immigration attorneys. She has made a commitment to national immigration rights and policy above and beyond the long hours of determined work she logs working directly with the US government.
From the early days in her legal career, she has remained active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She currently serves as an elected director of AILA’s National Board of Governors and vice-chair of AILA’s National Customs and Border Protection Committee. Her commitment to fair and equitable immigration law and public policy earned her AILA President’s Commendation Award for Outstanding Service, and recognition by Chambers & Partners USA as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.”
Her long-standing professional relationships with members of the Department of Homeland Security, USCIS, Department of Justice, and Customs and Border Protection have provided her with an acute understanding about the practical implementation of immigration policy. This unique perspective has made Ms. Axelrad a highly sought after national and international speaker on U.S. Immigration Law.
The June 1 Metro Women’s Leadership Summit kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with a registration breakfast and remarks from New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy followed by Keynote Speaker Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver. Attorney Axelrad is expected to engage participants during an intensive “Breakout Session” between 10:00 am and 3:25 pm followed by a women’s networking event.
